Transparent Oxide Semiconductors


Transparent electronics: transparent oxide semiconductor based thin film transistors, diodes and sensors 

Transparent semiconducting oxide (TSO) based thin film transistors (TFTs) have attracted much attention in recent years due to their potential use in flat panel display applications. TSO-based TFTs have shown high performances to be used as an alternative to the low mobility (<1 cm2/Vs) amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) TFTs. Unlike low mobility a-Si:H transistors, metal oxide-based TFTs are highly transparent in the visible region of the spectrum, enabling the realization of active matrix flat panel displays with high filling factors and even totally transparent. 

Flexibility, transparency, light weight, low power consumption, and low operating voltage are among the most desirable characteristics for producing switching units in portable devices. We develop TSO films by solution process for the realization of low-temperature processed transparent and flexible TFTs with low operation voltage and low power consumption. . We are also trying to develop ion-sensitive field effect transistors (ISFETs) based on TSO TFTs for sensing applications. P-type TSO is being pursued by PVD methods in order to make possible the fabrication of complimentary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) devices for emerging electronics.
