​Exploring the third dimension in energy storage devices by designing 3D current collector is shown to give microsupercapacitors with impressive energy and power density.  The porous 2D collectors allow significant mass loading of active material without impeding electrolyte permeability. The results are microsupercapacitors that outperform many types of thin film and microbatteries
