Capacitive Energy Storage

Details

In this project we develop nanomaterial design and synthesis strategies to improve electrode material performance for supercapacitor applications. We are specifically interested in the development of inorganic layered materials including oxides, chalcogenides, carbides, and phosphides to improve supercapacitor performance. A key goal is to design materials that facilitate ion and electron transport, have large surface areas, and have a combination of macro and meso porosity. We are also investigating different current collector materials and geometries to improve performance. Conventional supercapacitors, asymmetric supercapacitors, and mobile ion capacitors are being developed. supercapacitor electrodes.
